Markham Boot Camp Trainer Explains "What is #FOGR?"
What is #FOGR?
It stands for “Focused On Getting Results”. It originated in our Bye Bye Body Fat Boot Camp as a way to keep our boot campers mentally focused on their health and fitness goals, specifically using the Social Media outlets: Twitter and Facebook.

For those that are familiar with Twitter, the “#” represents a hash tag, which is a simple way for people to search for tweets that have a common topic. For example, if you search on #GLEE (or #Glee or #glee, because it’s not case-sensitive), you’ll get a list of tweets related to the TV show. Hash tags allow the ability to create communities or people interested in the same topic by making it easier for them to find and share information related to it.
On Facebook, #FOGR was intended for our boot campers to keep each other accountable by ‘tagging’ a fellow boot camper on his/her “Status Update”, so that others can see what he/she is doing to remain “Focused On Getting Results”.
An example on Facebook or Twitter would be:
“Today, I went to boot camp and work my butt off because I’m going to lose 15 lbs by the start of summer. I am #FOGR”
What originally started off as a mental cue to stay focused, #FOGR has quickly manifested into it’s own little community. In fact, we have aspirations of a “#FOGR Revolution”, where it becomes a way of life for anyone who has goals to succeed in any capacity.
We want you to be a part of it. It is literally a 5 minute daily commitment. “Revolution” is not an exaggeration. Can our #FOGR community make a such big impact? I truly believe we can, and we’re going to do it using Facebook and Twitter.
As a fitness professional, it is my responsibility to encourage not only my clients and boot campers to be healthy and active, but, EVERYONE around me! Personally, I believe that we all have this responsibility the moment we have decided that fitness is going to be a regular part of our lives. If you’re reading this, you have already made that decision for yourself. Now we need to do our part to at least encourage those we care about most to do the same, our family and friends.
We have a huge epidemic folks. Our North American society is faced with the most unhealthy population in the world! Canada is faced with an increasing amount of health issues which includes joint problems, obesity, heart disease, and cancer just to name a few!
The only way things are going to change is if we all work together. We will use Facebook and Twitter to update everything (or as much as possible) regarding our health and fitness. This will keep you constantly conscious of your personal goals and remind you of why you’re working so hard to achieve them.
FACEBOOK / TWITTER RULES:
- Make an account on: Facebook.com and/or Twitter.com
- Add/Follow: Bye Bye Body Fat Boot Camps on Facebook , Ray Ortiz on Facebook or “IAmFOGR” on Twitter.
- Then, Tag/Mention us on each of your updates.
- Add our secret code (hash tag) in your update: “#FOGR” (Focused On Getting Results)

- All you have to do is update your Facebook status with “#FOGR (aka. Healthy) foods.”
- In your Facebook Status, you must ‘tag’ our Fan Page & Ray Ortiz.
- For example, you will tag by typing in “@Bye Bye Body Fat Boot Camp“. You will then type what you ate, such as “…I had a chicken breast and salad for lunch. I am #FOGR.”
